Trying hard – but not too hard – and looking like you’re not trying – at an agency.

The hardest part of my day begins at 7:30 am, and ends when I step out the door. Getting ready for work isn’t just a grind, it’s a battle. Let me tell you why.

“Casual work attire” is a great thing, really. But let’s talk from the perspective of a self-conscious intern for a moment. Looking presentable is only the beginning; you’ve also got to look like a creative. Guys? That’s so easy. The agency dudes are clad in white shirts, flat bill hats, button downs with rolled cuffs and Brooklyn-esque graphic t’s. Women in a creative agency are scrutinized every day, but that’s for another post. Somehow, these women have found how to dress like the badass creative ~*respected*~ professionals they are. Where oh where is this secret store they must frequent? [“I’m not staring, I’m just taking note of your outfit.” – creepy brain of mine.] I’m sure it’ll take a while before I can confidently find my own agency style. It’s the effort that counts, right?
